The East African Science
and Technology Commission (EASTECO) is organising the 2nd EAC Regional e-Health and Telemedicine
Workshop, Ministerial Conference and International Trade Exhibition, in Kigali
- Rwanda, 15th - 18th May 2018, in collaboration with the EAC
Regional Centre of Excellence for e-Health and Biomedical Engineering,
University of Rwanda.

The overall theme of the Conference will be:
Thematic areas and subthemes considered in the Workshop and the Ministerial Conference will cover, but not be limited to, the following:
Theme 1: Policy and Regulatory Frameworks for e-Health and telemedicine
- Experiences in Implementing National
ICT/e-Health Policies and Strategies;
- Regulations and standards for e-Health
products;
- Role of e-Health initiatives to accelerate
achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
Theme 2: Technology & innovation in strengthening EAC Partner States’
Infrastructure and e-readiness for improved healthcare delivery
- Partner States’ Capacity- to develop and
support e-Health technology and systems;
- ICT infrastructure for e-health and
telemedicine;
- ICT enabled devices, tools and systems for
health, incl. Mobile communications technologies
- Big data and medical/health informatics.
Theme 3: Sustainable Financing Models for e-Health and Telemedicine.
- Partnership;
- Meeting healthcare Demand through e-Health;
- Financial solutions for disadvantaged,
remote and rural communities;
- ePayment for e-Health.
