Officially Opens the 2nd East African Business and Entrepreneurship

Arusha, Tanzania: November 14th, 2017: Today, Her
Excellency Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan graced the 2nd East African
Business and Entrepreneurship Conference & Exhibition during the official
opening ceremony on at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 2nd edition of East African Business
and Entrepreneurship Conference & Exhibition is taking place from 14th
– 16th November 2017. It is co-organized by East African
Business Council (EABC), Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Tanzania Private
Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the East African Community (EAC).
Over 300 high-level government and private sector
decision makers from the EAC Partner States as well as business leaders, East
African Diaspora and investors from the region and abroad attended the
conference.
In addition key industry experts, business leaders and
relevant public decision makers such as Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko Secretary
General, East African Community; Hon. Charles Mwijage , Minister for Industry,
Trade and Investment, United Republic of Tanzania; Amb. Dr Augustine Mahiga
Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, United Republic of
Tanzania; Dr. Detlef Waechter Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to
the United Republic of Tanzania and to the East African Community; Mr. Vijay
Pillai Adviser to Vice President for Africa, World Bank; Mr. Dennis
Karera , Managing Director, Kigali Heights, Rwanda; Dr. Samuel Nyantahe,
Chairman, Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), Tanzania; Mr. Olivier
Lambert, Lead Operations Officer, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency,
Worldbank Group and Mr. Felix Mosha, Managing Director IBM Holdings,
Tanzania discussed on the current policies and missing links in bid to accelerating
industrialization, innovation and investment in the EAC.
Looking at investment trends, the total value of
intra-EAC investment increased by 6.9 percent to US$254.1 million
in 2016 from US$237.8 million in 2015. In 2015, total value of intra-EAC
investment increased by 14.5 percent from US$ 207.7 million in 2014.

This conference offers opportunity to dialogue
critically on how to encourage entrepreneurship and attract more foreign
and local investments into the region.
The conference is also an ideal opportunity to meet
potential business partners & investors, learn about the latest
developments in the region and influence policy measures.

Conference & Exhibition was held from the 10th to 13th
October, 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya; under the theme “Scaling up the Spirit and
