EABC Board of Directors appoints Hon. Peter Mathuki as acting Executive
Director of East African Business Council
Arusha, Tanzania:- 2nd October, 2018: The Board of Directors
of the East African Business Council (EABC) represented by its Chairman,
Mr. Nicholas Nesbitt, wishes to inform the public, that Ms. Lilian Awinja has
resigned in her capacity as Executive Director of the regional apex body of the
Private Sector in the EAC Partner States. After internal deliberations, the
Board of Directors has appointed Hon. Peter Mathuki as Ag. Executive Director of EABC Secretariat, effectively as of 1st
October, 2018.
The Board of Directors is pleased that EABC
Ambassador Hon. Peter Mathuki, has agreed to step in as Ag. Executive Director
and take over all duties with immediate effect. His expertise and network will
play a key role in strengthening the secretariat to advocate and support our
vision of a borderless East Africa for business and investment.
Hon. Mathuki served as a Member of the EALA from
2012 to 2017. During his tenure at EALA, he served in the committees of Trade
and Investment, Accounts and Finance and Legal Affairs.
“I am looking forward to restore the energy in the regional integration process, which is supposed to be business driven and people centered, “said Hon. Mathuki.
Indeed, his strong and high-level international network will support and boost the operations and activities of EABC. He will guide and support the EABC Secretariat in strengthening the governmental, legislative and business networks as well as promote membership and resource mobilization for a whole new line of activities.
